Back

from a dazzling, perfect trip. So much to say, I don’t know where to start.

So, for now, a few of the more surreal moments from our trip:

~ arriving in Manaus at 9.30 at night, still 32C and the Christmas lights are up
~ watching Phantom of the Opera, dubbed into Spanish in a small-town bus station whilst waiting for a night bus in Venezuela
~ being hoiked off the bus in the middle of the night, at an army checkpoint in the middle of nowhere to have our bags searched. They carry machine guns, who’s going to argue?
~ sitting at a poolside bar watching a Brazilian telenovela which I understood not a word of but the acting was that over-the-top you could get the jist, when suddenly Lily Allen’s LDN pops up on the soundtrack

Much more to come later…
