Some people will tell you that they were inspired to travel by great literature, amazing photos or TV travel shows. While those certainly play a part, the thing that originally inspired me to travel, way back when, was a cartoon.

But not just any cartoon; one that may be familiar to any kid growing up in the late 80s. A quick Youtube search reveals it was shown in many European countries, not just the UK.

The Mysterious Cities of Gold totally captured my imagination and made me determined to visit the Andes one day. And it has a great theme tune :)
