Falling in love with travel again

This isn’t the post I planned to write this morning – I have a whole list of things to share from my recent trip and I will get to them! But I am missing being on the road like crazy today, so here goes.

You may have noticed a slight change in the focus of my site – this place is now for ‘South American stories and tales from around the world’. It’s no secret that I love South America. I feel at home there, especially in Brazil. Just thinking about it makes me smile.

And I want to share that. South America is still so little visited from the UK. It is a long flight. It can be expensive to fly (although we flew to Buenos Aires via Frankfurt with Lufthansa for £254!). Maybe it’s not as ‘easy’ as S.E. Asia. But it’s so incredible. Stunning, varied landscapes. Dynamic cities with lots of quirky neighbourhoods. Stacks of history. Churches. Mountains. Gorgeous beaches.

The distances may seem huge but pick one area and focus on it. Or travel by bus or low-cost airline. Travel options have really broadened across the continent since I first visited. You can even book a bus ticket online for Brazil now, with a non-Brazilian credit card!

I loved discovering a little corner of lowland, tropical Bolivia this trip. Bolivia, tropical? But it’s out there and it keeps surprising me.

I’ll be posting lots more about my trip, so keep following along!

  1. Love this post – South America is somewhere I’d absolutely love to visit soon, but the problem (with limited holiday) is just choosing where to focus on first. Guess I’ll just have to have a few return trips :)

      Thanks Emily :)

I didn’t make it there for the first time until I hit 30 and have made 5 trips since on an annual leave budget!

It helps having an expert deal-finder around for flight deals.
