2018 has been a quieter travel year for me, but we are heading east in a couple of months’ time to visit China! We were looking for somewhere warm and malaria free to spend some time in November and Hainan, a subtropical island in the South China sea came up – handily there are now direct flights from the UK. We’ll be kicking our trip off with a few days there, relaxing and exploring the island which is home to rainforests and volcanoes.
Then it’s a quick hop over to the mainland to visit Guilin, Xian and Chengdu. Guilin looks stunning, with dramatic karst limestone rock formations, Xian is home to the famous terracotta Warriors and Chengdu is best known for its proximity to Tibet and the giant pandas that you can visit.
China is somewhere completely new to both of us so it’ll be an exciting and challenging trip – can’t wait!
