It’s a long time since I’ve been to the States – over 10 years in fact. Somehow it’s never been top of my list, although I loved San Francisco. New York has always intrigued me; I love the buzz of big cities, but would it be too full-on?
In a couple of weeks time I’ll finally have chance to find out. It’s a while since I’ve had a chance to do some travel where I can just stay in one place for a few days and not have to worry about fitting everything into a short space of time. So far all we have planned is watching a Knicks game on Friday night at Madison Square Garden. I can’t wait to see all the Christmas lights (the tree at Rockefeller Plaza is lit the evening we arrive!) and I hope to visit MOMA and take a ferry ride.
Other than that, I’m open to ideas.
What was your favourite part of NYC?
I like quirky, offbeat places so I’d love to hear any tips on places to eat, drink and listen to great music.
when I was in NYC a few years ago I had a great night of food and jazz music at a restaurant called The Garage in the village. I had a full week there, so that gave plenty of time to just walk around. The Cloisters is a very pretty place. We also went to the Studio Museum in Harlem which was really interesting for the afro-american art, and the area it was located in.
Have a great trip, would love to go back!
Thanks machi, great tips.
