I keep meaning to add more Brighton content here but always forget. But I had to share a great new bar we visited last weekend, the Bison Beer Crafthouse. You’ll find this place on North Road (not North Street!) right in the heart of the North Laine. It’s really easy to spot due to the great artwork/mural on the outside – painted by See Creatures who also painted The Pond recently and the delightfully quirky toucan on the wall of Tidy Print.
When you first step inside it might seem small, but there are three floors linked by a yellow spiral staircase so plenty of space. When we first arrived at lunchtime it was quiet but quickly filled up. The bar is owned by Bison Beer who also run two great beer shops in town (one in Brighton and one in Hove). There were 8 beers on tap; 6 real ales and two lagers, plus a number of bottles. Not being a real ale fan I stuck to the Paulaner Munich lager which was tasty while my friend had a peach-flavoured IPA. I also sampled the macaroni cheese croquettes – so wrong but so right!
The laidback vibe of the place and the great music made it easy to stay for a couple of drinks – I can imagine this place is rammed in the evening but it was the perfect place for a catch-up on a Saturday afternoon.
Bonus points for using my favourite local business Hi Cacti for the table decorations – the cute little cacti in colourful concrete planters were a nice touch :)
I haven’t been in Brighton in years, though when I visited I liked the town. Love the painting on the building! #WanderfulWednesday
Looks fun! I love the painting on the outside of the building :)
